Directions to the Harvest Inn
There are many ways to reach The Harvest Inn depending on what direction you are coming from. Following are a few tips. Please call or email if you need further assistance, or if we can help program your navigation system. Safe travels.
If you are planning on driving to the Inn:
You can take the more scenic route-through our lovely villages...
Take the Long Island Expressway (I 495) east to the last exit #73. (Greenport/Orient) Merge onto Rt. 58 (Old Country Road), which becomes Rt 25 (also known as the Main Road). Continue East on Rt25 for about 17 miles. When you see the "Peconic" town sign, look for Raphael Vineyards on the right side of the road. We are the third mailbox east of Raphael. You will see the sign for the Harvest Inn as you approach.
or
The shorter route for those in a hurry to reach the Inn and/or the wineries...
Take exit #71 off the Long Island Expressway. At the stop sign on the exit make a left. Proceed to the second traffic light and make a right on Sound Avenue. Follow Sound Avenue, also known as Route 48 for several miles. It will become a four lane road, continue east until you see a BP Gas Station. Then you will see a sign for Peconic, after that sign take your next right (Peconic Lane) and proceed to the end. Take a right. You will pass Indian Neck Lane on your left, the Inn is the next driveway on the left. If you pass Raphael Vineyards you have gone too far....
From New York City by Bus (the most popular choice from NYC):
Bus service is available from NYC to The Harvest Inn, via the Hampton Jitney, www.hamptonjitney.com (212) 362-8400. The Hampton Jitney provides an upper level relaxed transportation alternative to the North Fork. There is a stop on Peconic Lane, an easy walk from the Inn. Imagine two hours door to door from the city. Remember to book in advance on the HJitney website, or contact them directly at the telephone number provided above. If you would like to rent a car locally, we have two choices just minutes from the Inn. Both car rental services pick you up at the Inn, and deliver you to your rental car. We also have car service available by the hour and local cab service (we always mention...not like cab service in the city!).
From New York City by train:
Depart from New York Penn Station to Ronkonkoma, where you will change trains. We can suggest a rental car company for your use while staying on the island. The closest train stop to the Inn is Southold or Mattituck, a quick cab ride. Contact Long Island Railroad @ 718-217-LIRR (718-217-5477) for schedules and information. You can also check www.mta.info and view schedules for the LIRR.
We can also be reached by Ferry:
From New London, CT to Orient Point by the Cross Sound Ferry Service. For schedules and reservations please call (631) 323-2525 or www.longislandferry.com.
From Orient Point you are just short drive from the Inn. Exit the ferry terminal left, and continue on Route 48 west (also known as Truck Route 25). Continue west until the road becomes four lanes. Shortly after that you will see a sign for Peconic. Make a left on Peconic Lane at the traffic light (20 minutes or so). At the stop sign on Peconic Lane, make a right. You will see the sign for the Harvest Inn on your left...and a larger sign for Pindar Vineyards across the road. If you see Raphael or The Lenz Vineyards you have gone too far!
From the Hamptons or Shelter Island
If you are traveling from the South Fork (The Hamptons), use the South Ferry (from Sag Harbor), to Shelter Island. Simply follow the signs on Shelter Island to the North Ferry, to Greenport. Both ferries run throughout the day. You simply drive up and board the ferry-no advance reservations necessary. Once you exit on ferry, proceed to the first stop and make a left on Main or Rt 25. Continue for approximately 7 minutes to Peconic. You will see Corey Creek Vineyards on your left, and just a couple of minutes later, the sign for the Harvest Inn, on your left.
From Bridgeport, CT to Port Jefferson via the Bridgeport & Port Jefferson Ferry. Call (631) 473-0276 for reservations and information. Or check their website at www.bpjferry.com
Follow directions from the Long Island Expressway (above) from Port Jefferson to the Inn.
